Steps for aligners

Step 1

A comprehensive oral examination is done where a scan and/or impressions are taken. These will be sent to the orthodontic laboratory.

Step 2

From the scanned images, a digital set up is performed to determine what adjustments may be required on the existing dentition, if any, and the number of aligners necessary.

Step 3

Composite attachments are bonded to the teeth to locate the aligners and any interproximal adjustments required will be made.

Step 4

Aligner adjustments are generally made every three weeks. Pending the number of aligners required, this will determine the length of the treatment.

Step 5

Removal of the composite attachments and provision of any retainers for ongoing wear at night.

NB – Patient Compliance

The aligners must be worn 24/7 and only removed for eating
