Teeth whitening

Teeth whitening is a common procedure in general dentistry. As a person ages, the adult teeth often become darker due to changes in the mineral structure of the tooth. Teeth can also be stained by foods, tobacco, certain antibiotics and bacterial pigments. We offer both in-surgery whitening and a home whitening kit.

In-surgery Whitening is an hour procedure with preparations that are safe and effective. In the procedure the stains are oxidized from the tooth structure. Various protective barriers will be placed over your eyes, cheeks , lips and gums. Then the active gel will be coated over the teeth and left in place for 20 minutes, repeated three times.

The home whitening kit contains soft plastic trays fabricated to fit over your teeth very precisely together with the Opalescence gel syringes. The trays will be filled with a small amount of gel and then worn each night for approximately ten nights depending on the result you require. There are various concentrations of gel which will determine how long you will keep the trays in your mouth each night, ranging from thirty minutes to four hours.

In some cases we may choose to make use of both the home kit and the in-chair system using the advantages of both to obtain the best possible result.

Dental veneers

A veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over an existing tooth surface, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth, or to protect a damaged tooth surface. Two main types of material are used to fabricate a veneer composite and dental porcelain.

Veneers may be used to restore a single tooth that may have been fractured or discoloured, or multiple teeth to create a beautiful smile. Some people have worn away the edges of their teeth resulting in a prematurely aged appearance, while others may have malpositioned teeth that appear crooked. Multiple veneers close these spaces, lengthen teeth, provide a uniform colour, shape, and symmetry, and make teeth appear straight.

Aesthetic contouring

A quick and easy way to reshape your teeth, cosmetic contouring works well to smooth minor chips, reshape pointy teeth or redefine teeth. The teeth are reshaped to make them look natural and more attractive. They are then polished to their original luster.

Cosmetic gum surgery

A perfect smile is not only dependent on straight white teeth. The gum plays a very important part in creating a perfect and balanced smile. In some cases of smile correction you will need to have minor gum surgery so that the left and right sides look balanced and uniform. It may involve the removal of gum with our diode laser in some instances (Gingivectomy, Crown Lengthening) and the addition of gum in others (Gum graft).
