Oral sedation
We provide the patient with a sedative tablet, taken thirty minutes before the procedure at the practice. This will help you relax during the dental procedure. You will need someone to drive you home.
Intra-venous sedation
If you are extremely nervous or if you need to have a major surgical procedure done an anaesthetist will provide you with intravenous sedation. A sedative drug is injected into your arm. This will make you feel very relaxed and sleepy. Please note it is NOT a general anaesthetic. You will however feel very sleepy after the treatment and will need someone to drive you home.
Should general anaesthetic be required, the necessary arrangements will be made for the procedure to be carried out in one of the surrounding hospitals.
